Pause For: A powder day!

Just so you won't be disappointed with no videos this week I'll post pictures of the reason I didn't have time to work on one this week! In between kids recovering from stomach flu, cleaning, cooking, working on my paying job, and having a couple of delightful days on the mountains enjoying the fresh snow and the freezing cold (ok, didn't enjoy the cold that much!) I found myself short on time...so I hope you enjoy the views of this beautiful place that Vail is and hopefully entice you to pay us a visit!!!

I could tell you about the clothes and accessories but who cares when the view is sooo cool! Right?!

If you follow me on instagram you're probably sick of looking at these but hey a lot of you don't! So enjoy the breath of fresh air ;)

Brian tells me that that's called the Holy Cross Mountain because there's the shape of a cross somewhere in there, unfortunately there were clouds blocking our view but it's still a beautiful view, isn't it?! This is in the back, very quiet!

This pic I took yesterday when coming from the Northwoods Express lift, one of my favorite runs (not this one though guys, I take the blue paths ;D) hehehe

I was basically frozen when I took this pic, but that was my first day skiing by myself and I enjoyed so much I wanted to save a memory!

I love how the tress are packed with snow, it only makes it more dreamy!

This pic was taken at the new restaurant up the mountain, very nice setting, and very nice way to finish my day before it was time to pick up the kiddos at school ;)

Behind the cameras, getting ready for the family pic! hahaha

Mister playing hard to get in his stylish ensemble ;)

Finally in the school line to pick up my babies....not a bad view, huh?!

Thanks for baring with me on telling about mine an my family's adventures in our temporary home! If nothing else I'm sure you can appreciate this picturesque little town ;D

BeautyTalk: Fab beauty trends for spring 2013!

This is my first official beauty talk post. Aside from my youtube videos (which I'd love for you to subscribe! Chanel: Karina Style Diaries) I usually talk rather quickly about certain products and ways to do your makeup, this is a bit more in depth of what's happening this season when it comes to your hair, skin, nails and everything else we typically use to enhance our beautiful selves!

So after my research I narrowed down the spring trends to 7 most relevant ones and here they are:

1. Hair Bun: I guess it's time for the high up bun to go down a few inches, more precisely to the side even though the messy bun it's still an option we're seeing a lot more neatness going on when it comes to hair styles this year.

Altuzarra runway show

 2. Braid: another staple for spring is the braid, be it french, fish tail or whatever kind you manage to do it yourself it's worth it! I'm a big fan ;) and if you have short to medium length hair try the side braid on your your bangs and pin it with a bobby pin!

The Row

Balmain

 3. The Center Part: making a big come back is the hair parted in the middle, for it's casualness perhaps it's everywhere from the runways to the celebrities to us mere street people! I particularly like it more in a bouncy hair than in a full straight look but hey it's your call they are both in ;)

4. Nude Nails: although some might argue that brights are in, one of the strongest nail trends is the nudes, beiges, sand colors or barely there nail polish, after we've seen all kinds of craziness it's time to step down a notch and as a good Brazilian (yes, that's right! Brazilian ladies wear way more nude  than any other colors, classy huh?!)  I'm loving it!!!! Now, that being said the creamy pastels in cooler shades are also trendy for spring!

As a side note, I'm really not into the super pointy long nail, but not judging!

5. Eye-liner: my beloved is still going strong but with a twist, the thing of the moment is to wear colored sparkly or not eye-liner, think greens and blues, very 2013!

Atelier Versace

6. Bold lips/eyebrows: both of them have been making an appearance for fall here and there so they're nothing new yet they do bring a fresh appeal during spring time. Play with different colors on your lips not just red, and please having a bold eyebrow does not mean you can forget about your tweezers, I mean you should still clean your brows up a bit, ok? ;)

Jason Wu
7. Super Bright Highlighter: since starting to discover the amazing world of makeup this is one thing I can't live without. So imagine my happy face when I found the extreme highlight face as a strong beauty trend for 2013. This is one little powerful thing that makes your face look fresh, glowy, pearly, you name it, it's ahhh-mazing ;))))  highlighters come in different textures and usually are good for different areas (I'm going to work on a highlighter video soon) but they all deliver that flawless skin for ya!

**I'm going to be demonstrating most of these makeup trends on the following weeks on my youtube chanel! Stay tuned and show me your support by subscribing to the blog, youtube or even by liking my Facebook page ;)

Thank you, thank you and thank you all for the emails and comments on Facebook, that's the kind of motivation I need to keep on going doing what I love and hopefully helping you feel prettier! Lots of love....

iTube: Natural looking makeup for the everyday!

Today I made a natural looking makeup tutorial for you to endure your day looking pretty and flawless! I recently purchase the Christmas special brush kits from MAC, but they don't have the kits anymore so if you're willing to spend a little more I highly recommend the full size version of them: 130, 187 and 188 Short Duo Fibre Brush $42 and $35. These brushes are a blend of natural and synthetic hair but extra-soft, this is really all you need for amazing product blend, they are perfect for creams, liquids and powder textures, in other words everything! Also invest on a great eye pencil that slides and blends well, the one I used on the video and part of my everyday routine is the Stubborn Brown also by MAC. Hope you enjoy ;)

Keep in touch, as always I highly value you feedback...and I'll see you soon!

LookBook: The White Shirt Combo!

As many of you already know I'm a big fan of black & white, but also love them on their own ;D

So, the simplest but sure sharp way of looking cute/put together is not only the LBD but the LWS (little white shirt, hehehe) as well! A crisp white shirt looks great with any color of the rainbow jean, slacks skirts and shorts...pretty much anything goes. We saw the some huge ruffles last season but now it's time to set them aside for awhile and play with styles a bit more low-key, we're still seeing the silky flowy pieces but slightly tailored and the boxy cuts are also in. Which is your favorite LWS style???

This beautiful shirt is Aryn K. and retails for $110 (an absolute steal!) and the bootcut dark denim is 7 for all Mankind $170, both available at Blitz Boutique in Vail, CO

Shirt is White House Black Market from last year (sorry), jeans Diesel, Shoes Rachel Roy (still available online) and necklaces Stella & Dot, Marcia Moran and hunny's gift to me (the little heart one, no idea where he bought it!)
Bottom line is: anyone can pull this look off and there's so much room for creativity in them! I'll work on some accessorized white shirt looks for next week :D hope you enjoyed!!

LookBook: Casual Friday :)

If you work or have worked in an office/corporation at some point in your life chances are you are pretty familiarized with the 'Casual Friday' term. Even though there's no such thing in the fashion biz ( or retail) I felt like wearing denim today (whole look!) and pay homage to those stuck behind the desk - I mean you can have a ton o fun on Fridays lovelies!!!!

So you can start with a light colored denim ensemble and make it edgy with studded accessories in a dark color if you happen to be feeling that way...I chose a romantic combo of bow nude/ rosy belt on top of my western looking shirt and nude shoes, muted but sweet!!! On top I chose a faux fur in the same hue of the rest of the accessories, plus a few Stella & Dot jewelry and girly you're ready to rock that Friday!!!

iTube: The Jade Eye (Green Smoky-eye makeup)

This is a repeat of last week's video in an English version!

Make up palette worn for this video is the "Jade Fever" 500 by Lancome, this is best worn by people who have warmed colored eyes, such as browns, hazels and greens...
Pencil is the Black Ebony and mascara Doll Lashes, both by Lancome.

LookBook: The Rolled Up Pant

In my world rolled up skinny pants are chic and sophisticated, it looks put together too but w a bit of an edge. Denim is a year round staple and when it comes in the slim form it flatters every body type (seriously!). All you need to do is play with the top.

Here's a few examples of what to pair up  with your rolled up denim:

*Blazers for all body types
*A button down shirt (oxford, denim or even silk) are also nice picks, if you are busty leave the mid to top buttons open and wear a cami underneath, if you are fuller around the stomach area, loose the belt and add chunky necklaces to draw attention up.
*Tweed jackets are cute for the boyish bodies, those who don't have much of a waist, it adds a feminine touch!
*A nice leather piece, be it a shirt or a jacket makes your outfit turn into a wow instantly ;)
*Heels are a must if you are short, it elongates your figure and adds good proportion when worn with the rolled up pant, but flats are also cute (think Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O.)

For this look I put my hair up in a messy pony-tail and wore very little make-up consisted of eye-liner and a red lip stain.

I love that this combo of nudes is chic and contemporary at the same time. Button down military inspired shirt, Ralph Lauren Denim; black leather belt, Brave; skinny jean, Zara; black pumps, Nine West. All jewelry from Stella & Dot.

For this look I let my hair down and blew dry leaving it damp and put up in a bun over night so it gives some texture. Eye make-up is a shade of green with black liner and nude lips!
