My Style Diary: Betina Secchi

I'm so so glad my sweet Brazilian friend agreed in being a part of my blog by sending us some pictures with her fall picks from her own wardrobe. I met Betina a few months ago in Indy through a friend in common (our "maluquinha" girl Eutemia) and she's just so spontaneous, relaxed and just really happy and full of energy (I mean really!) that we connected right away, it's as if we know each other for years.

Betina is an attorney, who's so much into having fun and playing hard that one couldn't imagine a girl so pretty, funny and witty can also be soooo freaking smart! She's definitely an inspiration to empower women to be true to themselves no matter what, in the end she's a girl's best friend who always says exactly what you need to hear, and who's a firm believer that positive attitude and caring about others will make your life happier and attract the best for you! (so true!!)

Her latest endeavor is a brand she's creating in Brazil called "Donna Queen" in which is totally under wraps and I'll let everybody know when she's ready to release more info. In the mean time, let's enjoy some Brazilian fall styles straight from her hometown Balneário Camboriú ;)

Leopard fur jacket, Le Lis Blanc; shell, Triton; legging, Fruto da forma; boots, Carmin; necklace, Chanel

Lace dress, Victoria's Secret; mini-trench/bolero, Burberry

Trench coat, Calvin Klein; scarf, Burberry

LookBook: The high and low military look

These pics were taken a few weeks ago without me knowing about the edgy trends...well I guess that's why I do what I do ;)

This idea is to mix the fancier fabrics with the military "worn-out" piece (in this case, a denim shirt). I like to cinch my waist so add a bold belt and finish the look with girly accessories. It adds a personal touch.

Keep in mind this outfit was worn during summer time, for fall I suggest a heavier dress made of wool or velvet to maintain the chic aesthetic and still be playful, even a thick pair of tights with ankle booties will do it!

Gold mullet pleated dress, H&M; denim shirt, Ralph Lauren; gladiator military green heels, Shutz.

TrendReport: From the runways to the streets...

The fall runways are full of richness, whether is the color, fabric, textures or accessories they all scream LUXE! And being fall my fave season I can't wait to share some of my must-haves!

   1. The Military; this trend comes and goes and it's a good idea to have a nice military inspired piece always around. I love the rough and the soft together and this trend is so easy to play with. The new fresh way to wear it is accompanied by very feminine and romantic pieces, such as ruffles and peplums! Burberry Prorsum had the best interpretation of this yet:

Gotta love the bow belts!!

   2. Baroque plus Gold; some baroque inspired prints have been around during summer but nothing translates the rich feel of it better than fall fabrics like velvets or lace. Add a piece of gold jewelry and you got it!! For this trend, Dolce & Gabbana were spot on:

   3. Oxblood or Chianti; both are names of the must-have color of the season. Leather or fur in this shade look fabulous and very "right now". Pair it up with soft peach like tones to tune it down or black or brown to turn the volume up...

Derek Lam

Peter Som, Rodarte, DKNY

   4. All-Over Wild Prints; yes I guess they are still going strong this fall, stronger than ever if you look at some collections. Prada has all these amazing cut suits in the wildest prints ever. So ahead of our times, so daring and interesting...still I'm not sure I would wear the pant and the jacket together, as of now I would pick one of the two and rock it, but never say never who knows what I would be up to in the next few months ;)

    5. Fluffy Sweaters; they were long and lean last fall and now they are short and chunky. Be careful with this look as it can make us ladies look shorter and bigger than we actually are. I would pair the fluffy guy with super skinny pants or skirts to balance the look, ankle pants that narrow down are a chic choice also. J Crew's new collection shows a super cute version of the must-have sweater:

As the season moves on more and more trends will survive the runways and go to the streets, let's watch as I can wait to see them all on real gals!!!

Hope you love this report and next time I write the blog I'll be surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, not sure how much fashion they have around there...but wish me luck as hubby and I try to make this transition as smooth as possible for the kiddos and us.

Beauty S.O.S: The Adele!

As fall draws closer and closer (especially for me moving to Colorado in a week!!) our make-up gets darker and richer and right now the look that's making everyone turn their heads is the Adele look!

I've always been a huge fan of the cat eye (Audrey's, Brigitte's, Angelina's and now Adele's!!). I think the difference is that the new cat eye is thicker and can be drawn on the upper and lower lid, for a bigger impact. I also love the big puffy hair and boy, let me tell you that's the best trick for bad hair days ;)

The Adele look was seeing at a lot of runways:

No matter which part of the look you like (whether the hair or make up or both) you can play along and transform in your own look. It took me years to master my cat eye but the trick is to practice and practice and eventually you'll feel like an amazing make-up artist ;D play with your hair as well and let your creative genius out, I guarantee you'll feel like a rock star!!

Here goes a couple of videos I thought had great tips (as annoying as it seems, they actually have great content!)

There are some awesome tutorials available, you just have to have the time and patience to browse, I chose the ones I thought had more tips ;)

Have a great fall Adele Style!!!!!

Beauty S.O.S: fall hair!

I'm sure you've seen all kinds of styles out there. This is exactly what Fall 2012 hair trends brings to the table, a sense of modern yet you can spot some old timers. Think textured hair and think polished hair....meaning anything goes!!!

One thing i honestly believe though is to try something different, if not everyday then every week, even if it is a 'miss' well what the heck, at least you are creative and didn't let yourself be stuck in time for fear to look different ;)

Let's see what the fall fashionaisers hold for us, the creative minds who will try everything!!! ( ok, not everything)

 1. The Textured Hair; is the long, messy, boho sort of hair. Looks like you have the "I don't care" attitude. Add a braid to the side or pull it up in a bun or pony tail and you got it!

 2. If you are the polished hair kind of gal, do not fear. This is your season as well. The polished pony tails, the straight cut bangs and silky, smooth hair was also on the runways for fall 2012.

 3. The biggest trend of all in my opinion is definitely in regards to color. It all started this summer when the pastels were not only on clothes but traveled to the hair styles of the fashion-forward ladies (and gents ;D) but it doesn't stop there. Fall brings richer tones but still pretty fun, the nice thing about this trend is that you can just buy a chalk and do a one time thing to try it out before committing to a permanent colore!!!!

Hope you enjoy your hair this season ;)
