AccessoriZe + LookBook: Off to the Mall....

Saturday I was able to take a trip down to the city (ALONE!!!) and even though it seems odd for some people the enjoyment of driving two hours each way just to go to a mall, I often compare myself to the skiers who drive up from Denver and endure hours of traffic to ski for the day. My husband read a woman's venting on the paper about how a powder day for her husband was her equivalent of a shopping trip to the mall and then he finally started to understand that I was not alone and that people have different likes even if it seems like a crazy one....

Well, my thrill doesn't only come from the actual strolling around in a crowded place but the whole process of seeing what's new in stores, people watching (I'm a visual person, so much inspiration in watching what people are wearing), dressing for the occasion is very much up there on my list of exciting things! Let me open a parentheses and tell you it didn't use to be like this when I lived in Indy because our malls are a 15 minute trip not full of excitement. But what used to be a burden to me about moving here is now quite an enjoyable thing. Also, the drive down the Rocky Mountain is amazing, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking and it never gets old, plus I can sing along loudly (for a full 4 hour period) to the music I fully enjoy with no judgment!!!! (no fights about changing the music either...yay!)

Here's what I wore to my shopping trip to the most exciting Cherry Creek District (oh, I'm going to miss this place badly).

A great pair of sunglasses goes a loooooong way ;)

This is one of my favorite necklaces. The Lillith Necklace from Stella and Dot $138, the shirt is still available at H&M and it was my best find so far this season, it retails for $25 and it comes in white, nude, and mint colors!

My beloved leopard printed booties (from Aldo) are always a success, they just add an instant fab feel to any outfit! Also wearing my coated Joe's jean ;)
And as always, invest in a great piece, I have seriously worn my leather motorcycle jacket (that is at least 3 or 4 years old)  every  single day of this past week and it's amazing how I can change the feel of it by switching accessories and pieces of clothing. Ladies don't go cheap on the staple pieces, you won't regret!

Hope you are having an amazing week!

FashionBuzz: Duro Olowu for JCP

Wow, I was blown away with this one! Against all odds being JCP not my top choice retailer when it comes to fashion forward items,  it seems like they're stepping up a notch ( or many, have you noticed the amazing commercials during the Oscars?) by bringing the Nigerian-born, London-based designer who's a master in the art of mixing prints and amazing bright colors to collaborate with their JCP Collection line. Better yet, the price point varies between $10-$90 dollars!

Take a look at some of the styles that will be offered and let them take on on a trip to Africa ;)

Besides the master skills on mixing prints Duro is giving  us the metallic sophistication with a gold/silver trench coat, summer dress, and a skirt. The line offers accessories as well as home goods. Seems like an awesome one and totally worth a visit!

Hope you enjoy it!

AccessoriZe + LookBook: Black & Cream...and Green?!

Once again I couldn't fit this look into one category so here's a good accessory plus look look :)

A great sub for the LBD is the combination of black and cream which is a sub for the black and white classic look. Although I love the sharpness of a crisp white I also love the romanticism of a sweet pastel creamy color!

This dress was a birthday gift from mom from years ago and I never get tired of it. Banana Republic dress; Forever 21 booties; leather motorcycle jacket bebe; all accessories Stella and Dot!

AccessoriZe + LookBook: The Dark side of Spring!

Spring is still a far cry around these parts but this look is perfect regardless (or so I think!) it's the dark trend leaking through spring, which I love if I may say ;)

Henry & Bell coated pant; H&M flower silk blouse, J. Crew suede belt; Nine West traditional pumps; Stella and Dot Zahara Bib necklace, and all bracelets!

And for my makeup look I used my New Look set by Christian Dior, it's an exclusive set you'll find at Sephora (might be online only) for the price of the mascara alone you get a mini travel eyeshadow set along with the full size mascara!!! Who doesn't like that???

Hope you enjoy it and Happy Friday!!!!

BeautyTalk: Drew Barrymore's Flower Line

Last week (following my manager/friend advice to blog about this) I purchased a few products from Drew Barrymore's makeup line Flower sold exclusively at Walmart stores. The whole line is "Made in USA", never tested on animals and politically correct I'm sure it will definitely attract a crowd.

So I bought their BB cream, lip liner, nail polish, eye liner, brow liner, mascara and the plumping, moisturizer (white package) lipstick. Here is my verdict:

-BB cream ( I got the bb3 color) $12.98, not worth it. That was a dark mud color (grayish almost), very dense and hard to spread on the face, my foundation brush had to be washed three times (no kidding) to get rid of all the residue from it. It does have great coverage but it looks like you have foundation on and honestly that's not what I want from a bb cream.

Flower BB Cream
-Lip liner $5.98: great purchase! I really like that it lasts for hours and it's a  great price point, you can get one in every color!
Flower Lip Liner

-Nail Polish $4.98: not worth it, the colors are super cute but it has a watery consistency and the finish is not the best. Good for the price but if you want your polish to last this won't do it.

Flower nail polish, available in all these colors
-Eye Liner $8.98: AWESOME! Great consistency, glided amazingly on  my lids, it lasted all day even without an eye primer, I bought the navy color and its a bold blue that will be so great for spring/summer! Very good buy, totally recommend it!

Flower long wear eyeliner in Navy
-Brow liner $9.98: not good, it claims "no smudge" but it's so hard to apply, I had to put it on multiple times to see a faint line ( and I'm a total freak about brows, so it might be because I'm extremely picky but I didn't like it at all), on the good side, it comes with a built-in sharpener to keep the tip very thin.

Flower brow liner
-Zoom-in Ultimate Mascara $7.98: what's is really attractive about this mascara is the 3 in 1 wand that retracts from a flat brush for length all the way to a twisted one for maximum volume (at least that was the claim), while the wand is very interesting  I thought the formula was watery and I needed several layers to build up and it didn't really built it up :( also I made a bad bad mistake of buying the waterproof formula without realizing it and it took me two days to get that stuff out of my lashes, I used my Lancome makeup remover which is very oily and gets everything out but this baby....not worth it.

Flower zoom-in ultimate mascara
-Plumping lipstick $5.98: this is the lipstick in the white package that claims to be plumping, didn't see it, plus it was so extremely pigmented  it kind of sat in the cracks of my lips, so unless your lips are pretty plump and moisturized on it's own at all times this is not good for you, it wasn't for me! But on the other hand, my friend got the lip butter and completely loved, so it might be worth a try, the colors didn't seem that pigmented and it looked more moisturizing than the other lipsticks!!!

The first from left is the lip butter and the third from the left is the plumping lipstick.

Hope this will save you time when choosing what to get!
