Beauty S.O.S: The Red Lip

Now it's the time to transition from the nude lip and the smoky eye to a more springish look; the bright colored lip and the natural looking eye - I say natural looking because you know there's a lot of goodies we use to "look" natural :) but that's talk for another time.

Today I'm focusing on the red lip, I know it can be intimidating but only until you find your perfect shade. Invest some time on a consultation from a make up artist who will help you achieve your perfect self!!

Do you need reasons why to wear a bright lipstick? Here we go:
 1. It instantly turns your outfit into a chic ensemble. Its' like the perfect accessory, think of a pair of jeans with a cardi and flats...now think of it with bright red lips!!! Hum yummy ;)
 2. It totally brightens you smile. The strong color against your teeth gives the illusion of a whiter teeth (play it in you favor!!)
 3. It's a staple of elegance and sexiness, think Marylin Monroe!

Find your perfect shade:
 1. Fair skin look for sheer, blue-based reds. They are bold yet they don't fight with the redness of the fair skin.
 2. Olive or medium skin just have fun! Lucky you can pull off almost any red so pick your favorite and play with different tones.
 3. Dark skin girls have a couple of options. If you have gold tones ( Rihanna) look for a brown base red such as brick or rusty ones, if you have a more blue-based skin (Alek Wek) look for ruby reds or even reds with a hint of pink such as dark cherry. But what's important is to get out of your comfort zone and try new things, how are you going to know whether it works for you if you never try!

Couture with Biker Jacket

Good thing about my job is that I can come in wearing a piece of couture and people will find it fabulous rather than insane!! Ok, this Jean Paul Gaultier yellow plasticky dress was a gift from a special friend (Kiki) and I thought it was a good opportunity to wear since I went to a Midwest Fashion Week event that day.

Black & Brown

Since I get asked a lot about whether it's ok or not to mix black with brown, this look inspired me to share with you!
Yes, it is completely fine to mix them as long as it is in a stylish way ;)
