LookBook: The many faces of Summer Shorts!

Summer is finally here and the piece I seem to be wearing more than ever is the short shorts! In many different textures and styles you can't deny we reach out for them quite often this time of the year!

So here goes a few ways to wear your shorts.

I started with a pair of cut off shorts, they used to be pants and for some weird reason the washing machine ruined the pant making it look all stretched out around the crotch area, since they have an amazing fit, I really didn't want to get rid of them. So I cut them off on leaving about two inches longer than I really wanted them to be so I could fold them up and give them a nice little finish! You would never be able to tell they were pants. Haha!!!!

Tips....
1. To balance the shortness of the shorts, wear a long necklace. This is the perfect summer one, choose a summer style or design to be worn for during the day. Compliment the shorts with a cute cropped blazer, although a boyfriend style would also look cute with short shorts.

2. Pair your shorts with a cute tee but use and abuse of feminine accessories, combining patent leather on the look will bring the casual feel to a different level without looking like you're trying too hard.

3. Keep jewelry to a minimum and in neutral tones for a minimalist chic look.

Burberry Shorts; Forever 21 tee; Target belt; J.Crew bow flats, Stella and Dot Lucia bracelet and other accesories.

 4. Combine different textures to add interest to your outfit. A heavier knit along with tweed make you ready for a meeting, even though it may seem casual the fabrics are not so the look is very much appropriated for such affairs.

Ralph Lauren knit blouse; Nanette Lepore tweed shorts; J.Crew bow flats; Target earrings; and Stella and Dot bracelets
5.  Remember that accessories will play a small but an important part on the look. If you are in fact going to a meeting them I'd say loose the rocker bracelets, but if you're going to school then keep them by all means!

Rompers are back, or shall I say they stayed from coming back last year. Does that make sense?!
I love this one in particular and it was giving to me as a gift from my friend Stephanie. I love it girl!!!!

6. If your romper is printed try choosing the same color to accessorize. That will compliment the outfit keeping the romper the center of attention. A jean jacket breaks the vibe of the look adding a bit more casualness (I wore this for a graduation party!)

7. Nothing better for a dirty hair day than a big puff! A puff is seasonless... Hehehehe
Free People romper; Tory Burch flat sandals; Arezzo bag; Target jean jacket.
The next pic is a good example of neutral accessories, combined for boldness without being overwhelming.

MK Watch; Stella and Dot spike, bamboo and serpent bracelets; Juicy Couture belt bracelet.
A more casual vibe adding the neon trend that seemed to also stick around.

8. If adding neon, keep the rest of the outfit in neutral colors, navy, white, pastels should be great canvases for the neon to stand out.

Burberry shorts; J.Crew bag, belt and shirt; schutz silver sandals; Persol sunglasses

9. Shorts are cute with heels too but be careful not to make it look like you're trying to hard, I would wear a loose cut if wearing heels, it's a lot more sophisticated!

Theory shorts; H&M Blouse; Rebecca Minkoff bag; Nine West heels; Persol aviators
 10. Keep your makeup fresh and light, it's summer and you don't want the sweat to ruin your face, so keep it minimal but flawless!
***I'm working on a video for summer makeup!

I'm wearing the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation in #40, because it's water based it's perfect and light for hot summer days! Nars blush in deep throat and Lancome lipcolor (it's so old I rubber the name off, sorry!) L'oreal million lashes mascara. Stella and Dot earrings $24
